I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself.  My name is Heather Bamforth and I am assisting Biketreks Racing Team with the development of a women’s squad for 2013 and the future.

The concept is based on what Biketreks have established for Junior and Under-23 riders, with the aim of developing talented female riders into experienced racing cyclists, who are then armed with the tools for racing on an even bigger stage.

In 2013, we will be concentrating mainly on North West based races, including the inaugural Cycling Development North West Women’s Road Race League and National Series events that will be based in the region.  We will also be competing in time trials, including the Rudy Project Time Trial Series in the Lake District and, depending on our squad at the time, there may also be an opportunity to ride in the National Track Championships.

So, why get involved?

This is an opportunity to help you fulfil your potential as a cyclist – there are not many women’s squads who will be able to provide on the bike mentoring and coaching, but we will.  There is also a brilliant support network, every member of which believes in the need to develop riders for the future of the sport.

So what are you waiting for?
