We are well into the off season now, everyone is upping their games and returning to training. Today I went out to do a structured ride targeting my “sweetspot” zone. To those who are unfamiliar with zones the “sweetspot” zone is that perfect area between absolute balls out and a hard endurance pace. I find this sort of riding not very enjoyable but it is necessary to improve.
After I finished my zones I hung a left and started to cross the edge of the moors back towards home. As I was riding I looked up and saw all 3 peaks looming above me. They truly were an awe-inspiring sight. It is points like that, that help to re-establish the reasons why I started cycling. Yes, the feeling of doing well in a race is nigh-on unbeatable but riding through breathtaking scenery is also an amazing sensation.
A few days ago I found a video that emphasises that point far better than my drivel does that I’d like to share with you all:
So over Christmas get out on some rides, enjoy the view and rediscover your roots but don’t forget to do the painful stuff so you can hit next season and kick some ass.

Excellent…………..enjoyed that !
