Biketreks Racing Academy kicked off their CDNW season this year with a beautifully sunny trip to Pimbo. The Elite race saw lots of action for the boys with riders involved in all of the early moves with nothing really sticking. Eventually a strong group slipped away from the attentions of the bunch and the race behind quickly split up with multiple chase groups. Luke Grivell-Mellor (Rapha Condor) sprinted in ahead of Jacob Ragan to take his first win with the remaining riders of the first group trailing in behind.
Michael Ashurst, who had an excellent day in the orange and blue stripes, was top placed of the Biketreks Academy riders and came in with a group a minute down in 15th place. Behind him, James Dunlop sprinted in an additional 30 seconds down just being pipped for 30th, whilst Jonny Cregeen, Jake Cowen, Gary Spencely and Tom Bracegirdle were also riding well and finished inside the top 50 with the large final group. Rob Richardson, in one of his first major races for the team rode comfortably and finished with the main group.
A successful first outing for the team and proof that the hard work that they’ve been doing over the winter has been paying off. The Academy would like to thank all of our sponsors for their support that’s been able to make it all happen.
